Dear Parents,

Please let your scout complete this merit badge by himself.  There are specific times in the requirements when your involvement will be required.  Example "Discuss the plan with your family."  For all other requirements, I encourage you to use the following coaching method:

1.  LISTEN (Very, Very Important)
2. ASK OPEN ENDED QUESTIONS (Example Why do you think they want to know?)
3. PROVIDE FEEDBACK (Example:  Sounds like you have it figured out)

You can be a valuable resource to your son by encouraging him to use the resources he has available to discover the answers in his own way.  The CL Public Library has copies of all the Merit Badge Booklets and many other resources as well.
